About Me:
Suzanne enjoyed drawing and painting in her teen years but when she went to work as an adult in the field of social work, she felt she would not have time for her art until she retired. Then in 1992 she took an art therapy class where the teacher asked Suzanne to paint on food wrapping paper 30 by 60 inches. Suzanne found painting large abstract paintings like this helped her open up and express emotions that went beyond words. She painted over 60 of these large paintings. It was not hard to find the time. It was hard to stop painting to go work.
From there, Suzanne began experimenting with water color monotype and watercolor. She enjoyed painting cats, flowers and nature scenes that were smaller-usually 10 by 14 inches.
In 2007 Suzanne discovered digital photography. Taking photos and editing them with photo software became a new passion and obsession for her for years.
In 2012 Suzanne’s art club notified her of a Call For Artists from St Joseph Hospital in Pontiac for large paintings. She had never painted anything realistic that was large but felt challenged to give it a try using acrylics. This led her back to painting larger again-up to 30 by 40 inches.
In 2013 Suzanne discovered ACEO painting, which stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals, that are 2.5 in by 3.5 inches. Painting so small was another fun challenge she undertook.
Suzanne currently works at a private practice therapist. Some of her clients enjoy engaging with her and critiquing her latest paintings that she hangs in her office.
The intention of Suzanne's art is to help others reconnect with the wonder and divine creation of nature in ways that soothe and nourish the soul.
